Our Founder

Dr. Akhilanand Rai & Smt. Bhagyawati Rai – Founders

The inspiring journey of Akhilabhagya Post Graduate College, Ranapar, Gorakhpur is deeply rooted in the vision, dedication, and selfless service of its revered founders, Dr. Akhilanand Rai and his wife Smt. Bhagyawati Rai. Inspired by the ideals and lifelong commitment to education and public service of Late Shri Kalpnath Rai (1912–2003), they transformed a noble dream into an enduring institution that has brought the light of higher education to one of the most educationally underserved regions of eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Their guiding philosophy is beautifully reflected in the belief that knowledge forms a bridge between the past and the present, enabling society to face the future with wisdom and confidence. They firmly believed that true education must remain rooted in India's rich cultural heritage while equipping students with the knowledge, values, and skills required to meet the challenges of a changing world. This vision became the foundation upon which Akhilabhagya Post Graduate College was established.

Dr. Akhilanand Rai, a distinguished medical professional and dedicated public servant, served the Uttar Pradesh Medical and Health Services with exceptional distinction for over three decades. Appointed as a Medical Officer in the Provincial Medical Services (PMS) cadre in 1970, he held several important positions, including Medical Superintendent, Chief Medical Officer of Kushinagar, and Additional Chief Medical Officer of Azamgarh, before retiring as Director of the Uttar Pradesh Medical and Health Services in 2006. Throughout his career, he remained committed to public welfare, integrity, and compassionate service—values that later became the guiding principles of the institution he helped establish.

Complementing his vision, Smt. Bhagyawati Rai has been the moral strength and compassionate force behind the institution. Through her unwavering support, humility, and deep commitment to education and social values, she helped nurture an environment where Seva (Service), Shiksha (Education), and Sanskar (Values) became the defining pillars of the College. Together, they believed that no deserving student should be deprived of quality education because of poverty, geography, or social barriers.

What began as a modest initiative has today evolved into a vibrant centre of higher learning, empowering thousands of students with knowledge, confidence, and character. Every classroom, every achievement, and every success story reflect the enduring legacy of the founders' vision.

The institution stands as a living tribute to their ideals, carrying forward their mission of educational excellence, social responsibility, and nation-building. The tree they planted with dedication and foresight continues to provide knowledge, opportunity, and hope to generations of learners, ensuring that their legacy will inspire countless lives for years to come.
